Kenzie’s CLOSET believes that no girl should miss her high school prom because of financial limitations.
Who Is Eligible to Receive Prom Attire?
Junior and senior high school girls who are financially unable to attend prom are eligible. Girls must be referred by a principal, guidance counselor or social worker, meet income requirements and be approved by Kenzie’s CLOSET.
How Is a Deserving Girl Outfitted?
Once a girl is accepted in the program, she will be given an appointment to go shopping at our boutique at 2010 Madison Road in O’Bryonville. The shop is only open on specific days during the prom shopping season (March through April) and is conveniently located on a Metro bus route.
A personal shopper will help each girl choose a dress, shoes, purse, and jewelry from the hundreds of items available. Seamstresses are on hand to make any necessary alterations, and most girls can take their outfits home with them that day.
What Girls Need to Know
An Administrator, school principal, guidance counselor or a social worker in the community must refer you to Kenzie’s CLOSET. If you are unable to attend prom because of financial limitations, contact a principal, counselor or social worker who knows you well, and ask them to complete a referral form. Only this form will be accepted.
Once you’ve been accepted, your referrer will provide the information you need to arrange an appointment time.
You must bring your student ID to your appointment. No ID, No Dress!
You must be accompanied to your appointment by an adult if you are under the age of 18.
Absolutely no babies/children of any age are allowed for insurance reasons.
Your personal shopper will help you select the size, color and style perfect for you, and choose accessories that complete your prom outfit. Once any needed alterations have been made, you can take your outfit home. Everything is free of charge, and the dress and accessories are yours to keep.
We have reserved a special time for you to shop, so if you have to miss your appointment for any reason, you must submit a written excuse to Kenzie’s CLOSET in order to be considered for another appointment. To cancel, please call us immediately at 513-533-PROM so that we can give your time slot to another young lady. Get Directions to Kenzie's CLOSET.
What Schools and Social Service Agencies Need to Know
Only high school principals, guidance counselors and social workers can refer girls to the Kenzie’s CLOSET program. To refer, review our rules and complete the referral form via online or send back form completed via fax (513-533-0019), email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or upload onto our website. There is no deadline on referrals, but we do fill up so referring as early as possible will help ensure your student gets an appointment in a timely manner. You do not have to wait until spring, we accept referrals as early as September for prom. We dress hundreds of girls each prom season and our shopping days run from the first week of March through April so please don't wait until the end of the season.
Kenzie’s CLOSET will contact you to let you know the girl has been accepted and when her shopping day will be. We will also send you an appointment reminder form that will list the appointment time and day, important information for the student and directions to Kenzie’s CLOSET. You will then inform her of her acceptance, and provide her the appointment reminder form.
